Judith Harvie studied law at the University of Montreal. She was a research assistant to Mr Justice Michel Proulx of the Quebec Court of Appeal. After completing her studies, Ms Harvie occupied the position of law clerk to Mr Justice Charles D. Gonthier of the Supreme Court of Canada in 1996-97.

In 1999, Ms Harvie joined the CBC Law Department as Legal Counsel in the Media Law team before becoming Senior Legal Counsel in 2010. In May 2015, she was promoted to the position of Associate General Counsel and Executive Director, Media Law, a position she is currently occupying. She manages a team of 10 media lawyers located across Canada that counsels all of CBC/Radio-Canada in both official languages.

Meanwhile, she became mom to three children and was involved in many organisations over the years, ranging from the board of directors of the CBC’s kindergarten to president of ABC National’s constitutional and human rights law section.
