Ad IDEM/Canadian Media Lawyers Association congratulates the winner of this year’s CMLA Freedom of Expression award, Linda Hughes, former editor of The Edmonton Journal for her work promoting freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
Ad IDEM/CMLA, the largest media lawyer organisation in Canada, is dedicated to the promotion and protection of freedom of expression throughout Canada. Our objective is “to reaffirm every day, in every court in our country, the importance of these freedoms.”
The Freedom of Expression Award is granted annually to an individual or individuals who have promoted and protected freedom of expression and freedom of the press in Canada, particularly in the legal sphere. The award may be based on individual actions, or a lifetime of contributions to the cause. Both lawyers and non-lawyers are eligible.
The deadline for nominations for the 2020 award is October 1, 2020, and should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
